T.I. Releases His Ninth Studio Album
The King of the South is back! T.I. released his ninth studio album, Paperwork, on October 21, 2014. This is T.I.’s first album under Columbia Records, after his 10 year contract with Atlanta Records expired. The album is star studded featuring The Dream, Rick Ross, Pharrell Williams, Chris Brown, Iggy Azalea, and Usher. It is a little surprising President Barack Obama isn’t featured in a song.
T.I. has brought back some of his fire and unpredictability from his earlier albums and combined it with the insights of his current self. It feels like it has been a long time since I could say I like almost every song in the album.
It is obvious that in this album T.I. held nothing back. In his song “New American Anthem” featuring Skylar Grey. The song talks about being a black man in America, even touching upon Trayvon Martin. Other songs that stood out was “King”, “Jet Fuel” featuring Boosie Badazz, and “About the Money” featuring Young Thug. The song “I Don’t Know” is talking about how he would defend himself if he had to, but if he was to kill someone and go to jail what would his kids do without him?
This is only part one of what is supposed to be a trilogy. Hopefully, the other two albums are just as good, if not better than this one.
