Spotlight On New UB Faculty - Craig Lennon

By Alexander Battle
On October 3, 2013
This year, the University of Bridgeport has received a valuable new addition to its faculty. We welcome Craig Lennon, the new Director of Campus Activities and Civic Engagement, to the University of Bridgeport. Our new director comes equipped with a plethora of life and work experiences that set out to distinguish him as an exemplary individual. As the new Director of Campus Activities and Civic Engagement, Craig's responsibilities include: working closely with all the groups and organizations on campus, acting as building manager for the John Jay Cox Student Center, working with the Service Coordinator Jennifer Turner on administrating community service opportunities on campus, and facilitating the University's special events.

Craig personally purports himself to be an educator, and has spent years working in that very capacity in a variety of institutions. He comes to UB from Ukraine, having worked in one of its institutions for higher education. His new position has given him the opportunity to meet a lot of the students on campus, and so far Craig enjoys the environment that the University community has to offer. He cites the UB community as being a very driven and diverse collection of students with a strong international presence. This, of course, means that his job gets very busy. Even so, he remains impressed with the proactivity that UB students act on. If the Fall Activities Fair was very much an indication of what's to come, Craig is definitely looking forward to it.

When it comes to the students who attend the university, Craig hopes that all of the students take a more active approach to campus life. He firmly believes that the things you do outside the classroom are also important for personal and professional development. Club responsibilities, community service, and campus engagement are good complements to the classroom. People can get work experience that directly applies to one's chosen career from the extracurricular activities hosted on and off the campus. So, from this, he would advise that students take the initiative and build that experience for themselves. As it is, he concludes that it would make for a fun and meaningful University of Bridgeport experience.
