SSS trip to STOMP a Success
On Saturday September 29 the Student Support Services of UB took a group of their hardworking students to the Orpheum Theater in New York City to see STOMP. After arriving in New York everyone was given the chance to explore the area for a couple hours before the show had begun.
That gave several people who haven't been to the city a chance to explore its wonders and see why everyone loves New York City. Filled with excitement, everyone broke off into multiple groups and dashed off in multiple directions.
While many of the students were meeting each other for the first time nobody was afraid to introduce themselves to one another. I myself had the privilege to meet several new fellow students and become acquainted with them.
With all the wild that a city like New York brings with its colorful characters that roam around the streets and the side show entertainment you can find at almost every corner the SSS students were enjoying many laughs with each other.
As the show was getting set to begin the Orpheum Theater became crowded with eager ticket holders and may I mention the line to the bathroom reminded everyone why no one enjoys waiting in line.
The show kicked off slow and steady, but then quickly turned to a high level of fun and enjoyment. The performers put on a fast paced quality show and were also interactive with the entire audience. You can even say the performers had everyone in the audience in the palm of their hands without uttering a single word.
The performers used every technique from clapping their hands and stomping their feet, to making perfectly in tune beats and rhythms with brooms, trash can lids and anything else you could think of. These performers were on their game.
Leaving everyone in awe with some of the tricks they performed while making natural music to the perfect coordination they had with each other those performers left it all on the stage. I doubt I could do what they done on stage even if I practiced.
As the show came to an end the audience gave a strong standing ovation and some students of the UB community also got the chance to take photos with some of the performers. All in all, the trip was a success and STOMP is a must see performance if you ever find yourself in New York City.
