T-shirt Scarf or Necklace

D.I.Y.

By KAITLIN O'CONNELL
On December 5, 2011

Materials:T-shirt (preferably soft cotton so it is easy to stretch, and try to make it a large or XL t shirt); Scissors (any kind); A ruler (optional).

Step 1-Lay shirt on a flat surface and begin to cut at the armpit of the shirt and continue to cut until the top half of the shirt is separated from the bottom. Then, cut the hem of the shirt from off the bottom as well.

Step 2-Now cut the body of the shirt horizontally, you can use a ruler or not if you wish, I did so here, hut you can eye it as well.

Step 3-Once all of the strips are cut, pull the fabric to make the strips as long as you want them.

Step 4-Stack the loops on top of one another so that the seams are in the same spot. Make sure to leave out one or two loops for step 5.

Step 5-Now take one of the loops that you put aside and wrap it around of the seams so that it no longer shows

VIOLA! You now have a new and trendy necklace or scarf (depending on the thickness and length). Don't worry if this takes a few tries to get right. If you want you can also add beads or even braid a section of the loops to make it even more unique!

GOOD LUCK! And get creative!
