The Taste of Europe

By COLTON YOUNG

The Taste of Europe was held on November 1 from 1 to 2 p.m. in the International Student office of the garden level of Wahlstrom Library.

Did you know that French fries were not invented in France? Actually, French people do not even eat French fries that much. They do eat Brie cheese though, mostly with bread, wine and grapes. It is considered a delicacy and is very expensive in most parts of Europe. Unfortunately, I did not find it to be that tasteful, because it was a little too tangy.

However, the spaghetti, which is from Italy of course, was seasoned to perfection with oregano and basil. It was served with bread, garlic bread and crispy breadsticks.

The specialty from Greece is the olive. Perfectly tangy, this is a snack that has to be eaten in moderation.

Dessert was absolutely amazing, starting with Dutch mini waffle wafers. They were sweet and crispy, and seemed to be the popular favorite.

Also crème brulee was enjoyed by the eaters. It is a dessert consisting of a rich custard base topped with a contrasting layer of hard caramel.

Muffins and scones, very popular in London, were also available, and tasted delicious.

Overall, the Taste of Europe was a great experience where I was able to try some new foods, such as brie cheese, Dutch waffles and crème brûlée.
