Fashion Focus

Hello my fellow readers at UB. This year the Scribe is not only bringing you the latest news on politics, social events on campus, and updates about alumni. The scribe is also going to bring you the latest news on fashion. That’s right you read it correctly, fashion. My name is Kimberly Hunter and I will be writing Fashion Focus with Simone Carnegie. We are both excited to be writing on such a fun and interesting topic. I promise that I will make you fashion craze people proud of us. Now without further ado let’s talk fashion. How many of you know how to get “The Great Look for fall”? If you guys do not know, do not worry about it. It is my job to inform you. This season is going to be fun. I always love the fall and winter when it comes to fashion. The more articles of clothing the more fun it is to play up your look. The first thing everyone needs is a great coat. This season’s designers have gone for the more luxurious and refined looks. Yes, I know we are all on a college student budget, but it doesn’t hurt to imitate. Designers this season have created coats with opulent details, details such as fur or faux fur on collars, and cuffs, lavish embroidery and cashmere lining.

Next on the list of things you should know about this season, are colors. For fall 2004 you will find a great amount of earth toned colors. Colors such as browns, dark greens, naturals, and eggplant these colors are more for the day time. If you’re looking for an exciting look for night in this fun season you may want to look at some metallic colors, colors like gold, silver, copper, and bronze. These colors are great for a night out with the girls.

Another thing that is big this season is the fabric Tweed. For those of you who don’t know what a tweed fabric is, in short terms it is a rough unfinished woolen fabric. It is made in either plain or twill weave and may have a check, twill or herringbone pattern. This season you will find tweed used for skirts, pants, tailored blazers, bags and even shoes. Other trends this season may include Skinny Jeans which have a sleek ankle-skimming shape, Pencil Skirts that are knee length or longer, and these skirts also look great in tweed, Ribbons and Bows, they may help achieve that feminine good girl look. They are also a great accessory for the waist worn as a belt and they look pretty in the hair.

Now let’s take this time to re-cap what we should look for to get the great look for fall. We need a great coat, we need to know what colors are great for fall, we need to know that tweed is in, we need pencil skirts, we need a great pair of denim, and we need a nice pretty ribbon to finish it off. Just a little reminder to the readers, this is fashion: it should be fun. Whatever you decide to wear this season, make sure to add your own personal style because when it comes to personal style there are no rules.
