The University of Bridgeport hosted a great business event Wednesday, April 21st. From 3 to 7 pm, Wheeler Recreation Center welcomed over 1000 visitors, and over 70 businesses and organizations, some of which have a national significance. Pitney Bowes, SBC Communications, Bank of America (Fleet Bank), and People’s Bank, are a few of the big name companies that made an appearance at this year’s Business exposition. Even more important than the fact that these big companies had booths at the expo, is that they had their top executives attend the event. CEO of Community Bank, Mr. Peter Hurst, the Vice President of People’s Bank, Ms. Barbara Johnson, and president of CMSDS, Mr. Fred McKinney, were all present at the event. Bridgeport’s Mayor, Mr. John Fabrizi, was unfortunately not able to attend, but managed to send a representative of equally impressive importance. Secretary of the State Susan Baysewitz, showed up exactly on time at 3pm and welcomed everyone to the event.
A large number of U.B. students took advantage of this opportunity and represented themselves and the school on a very professional level.
A good business event becomes even better when mixed with pleasure. Great food by Taco Loco and entertainment from the Hispanic dance group LaGanza, made this event as enjoyable as it was functional.
All in all, it seems like Finally Business Expo by Hispanic Association is starting to look like a real business event. This change is greatly due to Vase Management’s organizing this year’s exposition. The owner of Vase Management is University of Bridgeport student, Vincencia Adusei.
Also, full credit must be given to U.B. faculty and staff for helping to organize and promote the expo.
Hopefully, more business events of this kind will start happening at our university, and strengthen the relationship between the school and business community, which will ultimately create a better name for this school, and more job opportunities for its students.
