Swimmers Up Record to 4-1

Patchogue, NY- The University of Bridgeport women’s swimming and diving team swept St. Joseph’s College and SUNY Old Westbury 150-80 on Saturday afternoon in a double dual meet hosted St. Joseph’s College in Patchogue, NY. UB nipped St. Joe’s by two points, 112-10, and they defeated SUNY Old Westbury, 150-68. With Saturday’s two wins, Bridgeport is now 4-1 in dual meets so far in 2007-08.Senior Viktoria Molnar (Nagyvenyim, Hungary) was outstanding for the Purple Knights, breaking a school record in the 500 yard freestyle with a time of 5:18.45. Along with three other UB swimmers, Molnar was also a multiple event winner, taking first place in the 200 and 50 yard Freestyles.

Joining Molnar in winning multiple events were seniors Raluca Duma (Cluj Napoca,Romania) in the 200 yard Individual Medley and 50 yard Freestyle and Aleksandra Byczynska (Warsaw, Poland) in the 50 yard Backstrokes and 50 yard Freestyle.

Sophomore Alena Gorlanova (Omsk, Russia) had an excellent day on Saturday winning three events, the 50 yard Freestyle, the 100 yard Breaststroke and the 100 yard IM.

Bridgeport is next in action on Saturday, December 1, when they travel just up I-95 to New Haven, CT to compete in the Nutmeg Invitational.
