Bridgeport, CT-Junior transfer Quentin Martin (White Plains, NY/St. Peter’s College) notched a double-double with 18 points and 12 rebounds to help the University of Bridgeport Purple Knights to a 77-65 home win over the Dowling College Golden Lions in the East Coast Conference opener for both teams on Wednesday night. Martin went 7 of 13 from floor (1 of 1 from 3-point range) and was 3 of 4 from the foul line. He also had three steals and one assist on the night.Martin was joined in double figures by teammates senior T-Ron Christy (Stratford, CT) with 12 points and senior Anthony Davis (Boston, MA), who scored 10 points off the Bridgeport bench.
Bridgeport played excellent defense in the game forcing Dowling into 26 turnovers on the night.
With the win, UB is now 2-1 overall and 1-0 in conference play. Dowling remains winless at 0-4 overall and 0-1 in ECC action.
The Golden Lions David Seagers led all scorers in the game with 24 points.
