Multicultural Talent Show

The first ever Multicultural Night Talent Show was held this past Thursday November 16th, 2006 in the social room. Students arrived at 9 P.M. eager to see the performances that were going to take place along with the diverse cultural food that was going to be served. Despite the rainy
weather over 300 students attended the event along with the fact that admission was free. This event was held by the Multicultural Club and the International Awareness Club. The evening was filled with performances, food, and fun for all of those who attended. On hand to judge the talent show were Dr. Thomas Ward, the Dean of the International College, the Dean of Students Dr. Joseph Oravecz, and Dr. Ikuko Jassey a professor of Japanese at the University of Bridgeport. The festivities began with a fashion show featuring traditional clothing from India, America, Japan, and Nepal. Following the fashion show there were several performances featuring acts such as Rohan Raj, Dymez and Pearlz, and Aseem Gupta. Food being served represented China, Columbia, Indian and Jamaican. Prizes for the top three performances were handed out by the judges of the event and taking first prize was Dymez and Pearlz, followed by the second place winner Hardika Patel and the third place winner being Giovanni Scaringi.

The Multicultural Night Talent Show was the idea of creating an event where people of all cultures could come and enjoy the cultures of other people and celebrate what
makes us who we are and that goal was achieved last Thursday night as the crowd of students were of diverse cultures along with faculty members who came to enjoy the performances, food and music that was presented. Students had a great time and it looks to become a yearly event by both organizations being bigger and better next year.
