Bridgeport Defeats Caldwell

LAKE BUENA VISTA, Fla. (Nov. 13) -Mark Price hit four three-pointers to lead Bridgeport to an 84-64 win against Caldwell Sunday at Disney’s Division II Tip-Off Classic at Disney’s Wide World of Sports Complex near Orlando, Fla. Price, a 6-foot senior guard, scored 22 points on 7-for-11 shooting including 4-for-6 from behind the arc to help the Purple Knights (1-2) earn their first victory of the season. After taking a four point lead into the half, Bridgeport came out in the second half and went on a 14-4 run through the first seven minutes. Caldwell (0-3) did not threaten the rest of the game. Bridgeport shot 63 percent in the second half and 55 percent for the game. Four Purple Knights, including Price, reached double figures in scoring. Kevin Jefferys had 19 points, Raul Natera scored 11 off the bench and Mike Rosario had 10 points to go with his 10 rebounds. Sophomore forward Manny Perez had a big game for the Cougars with 24 points, 15 rebounds and three steals. Mark Kelly contributed 13 points off the bench. Caldwell led throughout most of the first half, but Bridgeport closed the period on an 11-4 run to enter the break with a 36-32 lead. Bridgeport finished the 2005 Disney’s Tip-Off Classic as the 7th place team, while Caldwell fell to a last place finish in the tournament.
