Softball Splits With Southern Conn

The Purple Knights rebounded from a disappointing performance in the first game of their non-conference doubleheader today to come from behind and earn a spit on the day.
In the first game of the doubleheader the Purple Knights committed five errors and gave resulting in five unearned runs in a 7-0 loss. For the Purple Knights Ashley Larson (Juneau, Alaska) pitched a complete game surrendering 12 hits 7 runs, two earned, with one walk and a strikeout. She was 1-3 from the plate.
In the second game the Purple Knights Samantha Mantor (Fresno, Calif.) pitched the complete game giving up five hits one unearned run and striking out seven with no walks.
Trailing 0-1 in the sixth inning senior Jacque McCaw (Loveland, Colo.) hit a lead off homerun to tie the scores. Senior Sarah Mantor (Fresno, Calif.) then hit a two-run homerun after Nicole Composto (Staten Island, N.Y.) walked to give the Purple Knights a 3-1 lead. The lead held as the Purple Knights improved to 9-8 on the season.
The Purple Knights are next in action on Tuesday when they travel to Springfield Mass. To face AIC.
