WATERBURY, CT-The UB baseball squad dismantled the Post University Eagle baseball team, 12-7, with one swing of the bat, handing Post their fifth straight loss, in a Division II non-conference game played at Municipal Stadium in Waterbury.
The Purple Knights (5-10) broke open a 2-2 game with a Joseph Misinonile (West Haven, CT) grand slam home run.
The Eagles (11-24) scored five in the fifth to cut the score to 9-7, but could get no closer. For UB each position player had one hit, but only one hit. Matt Kotuby (East Hampton, CT) picked up the win without retiring a batter. Kotuby was the beneficiary of a poor Eagle base running decision. Marek Deska (Toronto, Canada) picked up the save. He pitched four innings of no-hit baseball.
Ryan Depolo (Milford, CT) tallied three hits of the eight Eagles knocks.
The Purple Knights returned home Friday to host Concordia at 2:30 p.m. at Bluefish Stadium in Bridgeport, CT.
