Fashion Show’s F.U.S.I.O.N Theme Starts Sparks

The runway was hot and the crowd was anxious around 8:30pm, November 16th, as V.I.B.E. hosted its second annual fashion show. F.U.S.I.O.N was the underling theme, Fresh Unique Styles All In One Night; it certainly caused a chain reaction. The event featured independent clothing lines with truly exclusive designs. Elie Shery and Keith Adams hosting, it included designers like Mitchell with his line M-Designs, stylist Alisa with Vila, and a sure hit with the locals, Buddah and his line Epitome Soul among the many. A sure highlight of the event was the midway segment of Epitome Souls line. Bold and gripping a cadre of men strutted down the runway with Buddah’s shirts reading, “I ? Black Women.” The crowded roared with applause, an especially interesting response as one of the men was Caucasian. At least at the night in question, it seemed race relations at UB were doing better then OK. After an interesting, for lack of a better term, hip-hop performance by Bridgeport’s own Fred Jr, we dwindled down to the last of the artist’s lines. The grand finale of which was Divine Nature. After some small technical difficulties we viewed Williams’s truly unorthodox line. His designs reviled an amazing feng-shui of urban hip-hop wear and Asian outfittings. The event was held in the Student Center dining room. Admission was one to three dollars depending on location of the seat. It mainly included student models and designers. When asked how one student, Nicole Spiteler, felt about the event she responded, “I thought it was really good, well organized, the hosts did a pretty good job. I loved the designs and the models, it was defiantly worth the money.” The general consensus was that it was truly unique night.
