Bridgeport’s Sarr Named NYCAC Men’s Scholar-Athlete of the Year

University of Bridgeport junior Sana Sarr (Bajul, Gambia) was named as the New York Collegiate Athletic Conference (NYCAC) Men’s Scholar-Athlete of the Year, announced the NYCAC. The award was voted on by the 13 faculty athletic representatives from the NYCAC member schools.In April, Sarr was honored as the NYCAC Men’s Soccer Scholar-Athlete of the Year. After receiving this most recent award, Sarr is now a candidate for the Division II Commissioners Association Scholar-Athlete of the Year National Award.

Sarr helped the Purple Knights claim their second consecutive ECAC Championship this season by assisting on the game-winning goal against Goldey Beacom in the ECAC title game. Sarr was successful in the classroom as well and for his efforts has earned 2003 NYCAC Scholar-Athlete honors.

An International Political Economy and Diplomacy major, Sarr played in 17 of 18 games this season while maintaining a stellar 3.55 GPA in the fall and a cumulative GPA of 3.83. He finished the season with four assists and also assisted on the Purple Knights game-winning goal in their regular-season finale win over Southampton.
