“All that glitters is not gold,” which is the least I can say about the following trends. Everyone wants in on the action. If you want to get with the program, you have to be tuned to the right channel.
Before you splurge to try out a trend (old or new) know your limits.
The Single Earring: Back in the ’80s, if a guy wore only one earring you could get an idea of his sexual preference, depending on which of his lobes was pierced. Today, if a guy wears one earring you can get an idea of his lack of taste, regardless of which lobe is pierced. Do yourself a favor, get both ears pierced or don’t get pierced at all. While you’re at it, make sure your studs don’t exceed the size of a nickel fellas ..leave that one up to the ladies.
Really pointy shoes: Are you a Manolo Blahnik fan? Well here’s a question for you. Do you currently have less than five toes? I didn’t think so. Some of you are wondering how those pointy shoes accommodate our toes. It seems like a mystery doesn’t it? There’s really nothing we can do about the shape of this shoe. But I do think they’re rather appealing on the right feet. If you have size nine/wide feet, don’t purchase these shoes. If you have flat feet or fat feet, these are not the shoes for you, so don’t flatter yourself.
Ponchos: I see R. Kelly’s not the only one who believes he can fly. Quite a few of you believe so as well, in the latest craze of ponchos. But don’t get too crazy. If you’re a “D” cup or bigger, ponchos are not for you.Initially, if you were trying to hide some of your weight or camouflage your breast size, you’ve actually just “super-sized” it.
Suit Jackets w/ Jeans: Fellas, I hate to be the bearer of bad news but there’s only one Kanye West. The suit and jean combo is a challenge to pull off, and he who does a Kanye does a fine job at it. Before you proceed, if this is the look you’re going for, don’t be afraid of color. Try a pink or pale yellow button down shirt under a tweed jacket and lose the baseball cap, that’s a definite fashion faux pas. Keep this in mind and you might not have to be a “college dropout” like Kanye.
Stiletto boots: I bet you feel like you’re on top of the world? But let me remind you that “what goes up must come down”. If you’ve never worn heels a day in your life girl, it shows. What’s worse is that you opt to try 5″ stiletto heels! If you’re looking to experiment with new “heights”, stilettos are not the way to go. It takes a bit of practice, and the general public can see that you need more practice. Try something a bit lower. . .like flip flops! At least if you trip or fall in those, you’ll be much, much closer to the ground.
