UB continued with its five-kilometer walk for a good cause that it started last year. This passed weekend April 24, 2004 at 9:00am, the Wheeler Recreational Center along side the Naturopathic School of Medicine held the 2nd 5k Mega Health Walk at UB. It was a 3.1 mile walk that started at Wheeler Recreational Center, continued through Seaside Park, and finished at Wheeler Recreational Center. The goal of the walk was to raise money for supplies for the Naturopathic outreach clinics in Bridgeport and Danbury. With about 29 runners and 10 walkers the total number of participants was around 39. The first place male runner was Garcia Franerseo with a time of 16 minutes and 56 seconds. The first place female runner was Eunice Bussom with a running time of 21 minutes and 11 seconds. The walks local sponsors consisted of food donated by Wild Oates and music and logistics by Special Events. Of course, what would a 5k walk be with out its organizers? So, a special thanks goes out to Scott Bussom and Dan Maloney for making this walk happen and hopefully their goal for making this an annual event will come true.
