UB Softball Trying to Clinch Spot in NYCAC Playoffs

“GO TEAM GO!!” Chrissy Joseph says about her team. The UB women’s softball team is working hard to clinch a NYCAC playoff spot. The team is currently overall 22-16 and 11-9 in the NYCAC conference. They have won the last 9 out of 12 games. There are two big conference games left, against C.W. Post and Adelphi, that will determine if playoffs is in the future for the UB women’s softball team.

Most recently, Justina Kauffman was named NYCAC pitcher of the week ending April 18th. She pitched two shut outs and lowered her ERA to a team leading 0.72. Her record for this season is 5-5. Justina has the fourth lowest ERA in the conference. Lauren DeCarlo follows her with a 1.25 ERA. All of the pitchers have pitched well and have contributed to the success of the women’s softball team.

Brandi Sellers is hitting .376 and Correy Hansen is hitting .323. While senior Nelly Adler is leading the team with 18 RBI’s. Sue Parr has come through with some clutch hits to help UB win some recent games this season. At the beginning of the season, the UB knights struggled with their hitting, but now they are inching closer to a playoff appearance.

Nicole Composto stated on the season that “Even though we had tough times at the beginning of the season everyone showed a lot of heart to help us get to where we are right now.” The UB women’s softball team is staying positive and has high expectations for the team. Correy Hansen spoke on their playoff run saying, “It would be great to make playoffs. We have high expectations for our team. One of our goals at the beginning of the season was to get to playoffs.”

Keep an eye to see if the softball team is able to make the playoffs. The NYCAC playoffs will be April 30- May 2nd. “GO TEAM GO!!”
