Jonathan D. Lavelle, assistant professor of clinical services, was recently elected, for the fourth consecutive year, to write the Acupuncture examination for the National Board of Chiropractic Examiners (NBCE) in Greeley, Colorado. It is estimated that over one half of the United States licensed chiropractors practice acupuncture in one form or another. The NBCE will administer the acupuncture examination to evaluate clinical competency of practitioners as well as standardize principles and practice of acupuncture for the chiropractic profession. In addition, Dr. Lavelle has been named to the Council of Chiropractic Examiners (CCE) Commission on Accreditation Site Team Academy. As a member of the site team, Dr. Lavelle will assist the Doctor of Chiropractic program (DCP) by making either recommendations or suggestions that identify possible means of improvement, if indicated. This position will allow Dr. Lavelle to visit other DCP in the U. S. regarding the implementation of the CCE standards. This will enhance consistency in application of regulations and assist programs in understanding CCE accreditation requirements.
