“A Punch of Color in Hollywood” was the theme of the fashion show that was coordinated by the Fashion Merchandising and Retail Department here at the
University of Bridgeport. They really have outdone themselves again. The fashion show class has worked hard the whole semester to pull this show off, and they have done a superb job! I must say that I am extremely proud of them.
The show was on Thursday April 7, 2005. There were two showings, one at 4:00pm and one at 7:00pm. They were both done well, but there was a huge support from the crowd at the 7:00pm showing. The clothes for the show represented the latest styles for Spring 2005.
There were seven different sections that were amazing: casual wear, swimwear, work wear, vintage wear, club wear, evening
wear, and, last but not least, lingerie wear. The clothes were donated from various retailers in the Connecticut and New York area. Not only were their clothes from the retail stores but there were a few designs made by three of University of Bridgeport’s own talented student. Simone Carnegie amazed the viewers with designs from her swim wear collection. My personal favorite was the white swim suit with red flowers. Amanda Carr designed two very sexy club hopping outfits, and Dominique Jackson outdid herself when she designed an all white lingerie piece which was modeled by Chloe White. This fashion show was well done.
The fashion Merchandising and Retail Department of University of Bridgeport have really been active this year. Many classes in that department have gone on various field trips. Their last field trip was on March 24, 2005 to Roca Wear. I myself was on that trip and I have to say that it was truly a learning experience. We were able to meet with people in that company who worked for different Departments such as Sales, Marketing, and Merchandising. Everyone at the company welcomed us with open arms. They had the whole entire day planned out for us; we were even privileged enough to meet the C.E.O who is Damon Dash. You all may know him from Roca Fella records and from dating the late Aaliya. Roca Wear was even nice enough to donate clothes to the fashion show.
A job well done my fellow fashionistas!
