The Class of 2006 Celebrates their Last Spring Break

To those people who say that UB lacks the familiar traditions of the American college experience I would say you are probably right. We do not have a Greek Week, we do not celebrate Homecoming each fall and we certainly do not have a football team. This year, however, we did have organized spring break trips. One was an alternative spring break trip to help Katrina victims the other was a very traditional trip to Florida organized by the Senior Class. Seventeen UB undergraduates left JFK for Orlando, Florida on Saturday morning the 4th of March for a five day trip. The students spent two nights in Orlando hanging out on International Drive and visiting City Walk of Universal Studios. From Orlando the group traveled by car to Fort Lauderdale where they spent time on the beach jet skiing and sunning themselves. While in Fort Lauderdale they went on an evening cruise and tour of Celebrity Homes such as the home of The Rock (Wrestler and star of the movie The Scorpion King), Michael Jordan and Oprah ending on a private island where they were treated to a barbeque and a show. Also in Fort Lauderdale they visited nearby South Beach, Miami. Senior class Vice President Jaclyn Borja described the trip upon returning to UB Sunday, “it was sunny the whole time and it was the perfect way to de-stress after midterms, the yearbook and everything. This is the last vacation of my school career and it couldn’t have been better!
