Marian Heard (Class of 1963) is the president and chief executive officer of Oxen Hill Partners, a Boston-based company specializing in leadership development programs and brand-enhancement strategies. She also held leadership positions in the United Way of Eastern Fairfield County United Way of Boston and United Ways of New England.
For 20 years, she was president and CEO of the Points of Light Foundation, an agency she founded to encourage volunteerism, and was honored by President George H.W. Bush and President George W. Bush for her efforts.
In honor of her commitment to public service, the University last year named Ms. Heard a Distinguished Alumni.
“I learned a lot at UB, and one of the things I learned, was to do exactly the things I wanted to do,” Ms. Heard said upon receiving the honor in June 2010.
