Norah Jones Debuts a new sound in “Happy Pills”

“Never said we’d be friends/trying to keep myself away from you/cause you’re bad, bad news/with you gone, I’m alive/makes me feel like I took happy pills/and time stood still,” croons Jones on a love gone wrong in her new single.

Coming back into the music scene with a different kind of beat, Jones’s new single “Happy Pills” is off of her fifth studio album, “Little Broken Hearts,” which is expected to be released in May.

“Happy Pills” revolves around a break up as Jones admits to be feeling good about not having to deal with her lover anymore. Singing against an upbeat alternative tone with a hint of blues, it’s a new music direction Jones is taking instead of her usual heavily filled jazz and blues.

With every album Norah Jones creates, she always takes on a new music direction and tests her musical abilities to create interesting versatile songs. With “Happy Pills” as her first single off of her new album, it’ll be interesting to see what else Jones has in store when the album comes out.
