University of Bridgeport has had well known names grace this campus, including P.T. Barnum. Now the life of the former Bridgeport citizen and founder of the Barnum and Bailey circus will be depicted in the independent film, The Greatest Show on Earth: The Life of P.T. Barnum, starring Robin Williams.In honor of the of Barnum’s roots, the film’s premiere will be help at the UB campus. The red carpet event and after party will be hosted by U-Bet. To add a hint of glitz and glamour, U-Bet will work along side Hollywood event planner, Dorian Delufa.
“What I envision for the soirée is to really play out Barnum’s career in the circus,” says the party planner. Delufa plans on spending left over school budget money to fly in the world’s top circus performers, exotic animals, and a 25 piece band. A huge big top circus tent will be placed on the President’s lawn.
Expected guests include the town council members, A-list celebrities, and live coverage by Ryan Seacrest and E! News. And to add a special UB touch, Dean Holmes will serve as Ring Leader of the night’s festivities.
Also expect to meet and greet Robin William after the movie. He expects comments from all students.
Student Dina Ortego expressed her excitement about the star studded event.”I can’t wait for it! I’m really looking forward to meeting celebrities and seeing the movie.”
The event is set to take place on April 20th and the film is opening nation Entertainment wide on April 21st. Ropert and Ebert. have already made predictions of the movie’s success. They are giving it one thumb up and one thumb down.
