On March 28, it was announced that UB’s soccer field will become a multi sport arena for many different teams starting next year. The university felt that they were not making enough money so they have other sports and teams come here and use the field.
Tim Michaels who is the director of building and grounds stated, “In order for use to make this into a multi-sport arena we need to do more construction on the soccer field which will cost more money.”
The main reason this will cost more money is that we need to make the field suitable for of all sports that will be played on the premises.
Construction will begin during the summer and won’t end until spring 2009 semester. This means that the soccer team will not be able to use the Knight’s field next semester.
Shawn Smith a student and player of UB male soccer team stated, “There is no reason for this to happen. We just got the soccer field and now we can’t use it when the season begins.”
The way this is going to influence the school is when other teams from different schools want to come here to use the field, they are going to have to pay the university a certain fee.
Alicia Rappaport a student here at UB stated, “This is a great idea to have this. This will give the school a great name and will bring in profits for the school.”
We all are going to have to wait to see what it looks like and how this whole thing comes together.
