Everyone’s talking:Gossip

CW 11’s newest series “Gossip Girl” is predicted to be a huge hit for the prime time fall season. Based on the best selling series by Cecily von Ziegesar, “Gossip Girl” revolves around the scandalous and exciting lives of the wealthiest and most attractive young faces of the New York City’s Upper East Side. As if things couldn’t get more chaotic, the gossip is on red alert as the notorious “It Girl” Serena van der Wooden (Blake Lively, Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants) is back in town from boarding school. Questions arise as to her whereabouts and her mysterious return home to the Big Apple.
In a press conference held on September 10 and hosted by CW11, aspiring entertainment journalists from universities around the tri-state area (including myself)we’re invited to press luncheon and conference with new comer actresses Nan Zhang and Nicole Fiscella ( who play Kati and Isabel), producer Joe Lazarov, and the author herself.
“I was amazed and delighted really how closely the pilot episode follows the story of the first book. All the names are the same, the party-everything in the story from beginning to end are from the first book. There were a few things that were changed really because they made more sense or it up the drama.but it is amazingly faithful to the first book,” said von Ziegesar who based the book series off her real life experiences growing up in a New York prep school.
“We want viewers to get hooked. We want everyone to watch it and follow it as much as possible, I guess. Some people think that the characters aren’t super dynamic or they’re a bunch of rich kids.they’re all really smart and they want to go to really good schools. I think it’s good for people to know about the characters is that they have this really crazy social life but that they’re also really working hard. I think it’d be really good for people to relate to that,” states Fiscella.
With the glitz and glamour of the city, “Gossip Girls” is a breath of fresh air from the privileged teens dramas based in the west coast such as “The O.C.” and “90210”. Look for the exciting drama filled story lines and characters you’ll love (and love to hate) as secrets are revealed and the gossip keeps you coming back for more. “Gossip Girls” airs on Wednesday nights at 9pm on CW11.
