The Scottish Holiday Season.Christmas in Scotland is not what it is like here in the United States. Why? Because it is not considered to be a big deal. Christmas is considered more of an English holiday. However, New Year’s is of far greater importance to the Scottish. On New Year’s Eve, everyone stays up all night until the 12 o’clock bells ring. Then, they go from house to house celebrating the new year, but not empty handed; every house you enter you must present a gift, even if it is only a piece of coal.
