Merry Christmas!! Well, OK, so it’s not quite Christmas yet, but it is the last time I will be speaking to any of you out there in reader land until the new year. Jesus, it seems like we just started and now everyone is going nuts over those final papers that we all love to put off until “tomorrow.” Well guess what kids, it is now tomorrow and all of us are screwed. Fret not though, because your good pal Jon is here to brighten up all those thoughts you have for when the semester is finally over and the month of leisure is upon you with just a bit of holiday flair.Christmas time is, for a lot of people, the happiest time of the year and with a few sips of eggnog at your yearly Christmas party or a nice cordial after Christmas dinner, it just can’t seem to get any better. I understand the cordials and eggnog may be a bit too classy for us of college age so here’s a slight twist on a favorite which has been sweeping the country: Beer pong. You’ll all love it. What’s not to love? Its competitive, it tests your skills, plus, if you lose and have to drink, lets face it…you still win. Beer pong tends to start with all your cups laid out in a bowling pin like triangular configuration. All you have to do to festify it is take two or four more cups and place them behind the back row in a square. There, now your setup looks very much like a Christmas tree and you’re ready to party down with Father Christmas.
Christmas, as fun as it is, is followed by another holiday mainly revolved around drinking. Now that’s my type of holiday. Bars may be a very fun time for this holiday but let’s face it they are expensive, plus you have that added hassle of finding a way home because if you’re going out to drink, do NOT drive home. A great alternative is to host your very own New Years Eve party. Stock up on all your staples such as whiskey, vodka, beers, and don’t forget champagne. Jello shots are also a favorite for gatherings such as this. A fun twist for this holiday would be by combining the elegance of champagne for the occasion with the shear drunk factor of jello shots to create a lovely delicacy. Instead of making the jello shots with vodka which is usually how it goes, use the champagne to make yourself a batch of “Sparkling” jello shots. White grape jello works the best from my experience. They even look high class.
Well, just like you folks out there, I’m up to my ears with homework. By the time this article is printed I will only have three days to get everything done, which means I better get back to work. I hope everyone has a great winter break, but don’t over do it to much. There’s still plenty of time when you get back to enjoy your college years. So until we meet again, be safe, have fun, and have a drink for me. Oh yeah, and have a great break!
