Iraq…., this is the war that everybody hears about everyday and the war that everybody struggles with. Whether one supports Pres. Bush’s agenda of waging the international war on terrorism or not, one can’t help but regret the way things are turning out in this war and wonder how this horrible situation is going to end. The president’s public support has dropped to 37% according to recent polls, an all-time low. There is a lot of tension building up between the leaders of the two political parties. With the newest set of events, the Bush administration has lost even more popularity. Just this week, a long time Democratic Party Iraq War supporter Congressman John Murtha, D- P.A., finally hopped the fence and is now calling for a complete withdrawal of troops from Iraq. A Vietnam War veteran, Murtha was a valuable ally for the president when it came to issues concerning Iraq is now leaving Bush’s side.Just last week three Jordanian hotels were simultaneously attacked by suicide bombers. This act is alleged to have been organized by the Iraqi terrorist leader Abu Masab Al-Zarqawi. With 57 people dead from these latest attacks, it seems very clear that US efforts in Iraq have not hindered the will of these terrorist organizations. They are still very capable of committing devastating attacks. One can only hope that the congress and the Bush administration will plan out very carefully what to do in Iraq in the next couple of months.
