UB Men’s Basketball Begins

Despite a 25 point night from senior guard Kevin Jeffreys the Purple Knights fell to Bryant University today at the Purple Knight Classic 76-78. Jeffreys went 10-16 from the field including 3-4 from beyond the arch. Fellow senior forward Mike Rosario finished the game with 16 points going 7-13 from the field he also pulled down 12 rebounds for the Purple Knights. Trailing 16-30 with seven minutes left in the game the Purple Knights cut the lead to four by the half going on a 18-8 run. In the second half, the Purple Knights fell behind by 17 with 13:40 remaining in the game. The Purple Knights went on a 28-10 run to take a one-point lead with 4:37 remaining. Bridgeport was however unable to hold on to the lead and fell behind for the last time with 11 seconds remaining as John Williams sank two free-throws to put the Bulldogs up for good. For the Bulldogs junior Chris Burns went 10-18 from the field, including 6-10 from three-point range to finish with a game-high 29 points. Williams finished the night with 22 points.With the loss the Purple Knights drop to 1-4 on the season and Bryant improve to 2-0.
