The University of Bridgeport Men’s Basketball team squared up with Farmingdale University in a preseason match-up, hoping to work out some of the kinks that they might have and to show off their talent.
In the first half, the Bridgeport defense came out flying. They were led by the veteran leadership of Terrall Taylor, and newcomer Robert Robinson. The duo had 9 combined steals. Due largely to the 9 steals, and the swarming defense of UB they were able to give up only 23 first-half points. Bridgeport’s own Terrall Taylor posted 10 first-half points. It was due to an amazing team effort of combined talent, and hard work of the core returning class: Mike Rosario, Raul Natera, and Mark Price, that Bridgeport dominated the first half.
In the second half, it was Farmingdale that came out ready to play, posting 12 unanswered points, and narrowing the once blownout score to just 9 points.
UB seemed to have some trouble keeping up with the Rams newfound momentum, allowing them to get back in the game. The difference in the second half turned out to be some questionable fouls by Farmingdale, which gave the Knight’s back some of their lost momentum, and allowed them to take the lead by 17 and hold on for the rest of the game. Raul Natera and Mike Rosario both supplied 12 points in the team’s effort. “I noticed that we were a little too quick tonight and we have to work on some things, maintaining the ball inside and improve some percentages, but I think we will be fine,” said Coach Ruane. Raul Natera and Mike Rosario both had 12 points in the game.
