Is Google Leftist?

If you ever have a spare minute type in “failure” or “worst president ever” in a Google search and click “I’m feeling lucky.” The autobiography of George W. Bush appears. You may be thinking this appears at some far left-wing website, but the White House’s official web page is the host of “The Worst President Ever.” Google is not being politically biased with their results, they are being truthful. I cannot simply aim all of my digressions towards one individual, because behind the man are several who assist in the decision making process. Nonetheless, the President is the symbol of our nation who is to be held accountable for the administration’s actions. I fervently oppose many domestic policies of the Administration but these actions are nothing compared to the international violations which have occurred. I believe violations have occurred in Iraq that are subject to being classified as war crimes. What I am stating is not a radical position. According to Newsweek, Bush has recently received memos warning of possible war crimes due to UN charter and Geneva Convention violations.
George W. Bush ordered a War of Aggression against Iraq. This constitutes a Crime against Peace which violates the UN charter. A Crime against Peace is defined as “planning, preparation, initiation, or waging of a war of aggression, or a war in violation of international treaties, agreements or assurances, or participation in a common plan or conspiracy for the accomplishment of any of the foregoing.”
To begin with, Iraq never attacked the US or threatened an attack. The US was not acting legally in self-defense, which is permitted under the UN Charter. Iraq played no role in the September 11, 2001attack on the US and never provided material support to any terrorist group that attacked the US. Therefore the non-legal Bush doctrine of pre-emptive attack did not apply. The casualties of this war are heartbreaking. The amount of US soldiers killed recently passed 2,000 but the Iraqi body count stands at a minimum of 30,000 up to a possible 100,000. People keep reminding me of the Vietnam, WWII, or Korean War casualties that make the current numbers seem small in comparison. This is true; however we are in the year 2005 and live in an extremely advanced society. War is an archaic idea that should have been obliterated after seeing the worst of mankind following World War II.The majority of the victims aren’t supposed terrorists but they are schoolchildren, women, innocent civilians whose only crime was being in the path of the US military. In fact, Women and children constitute 60% of casualties according to the British journal The Lancet. They do not die with dignity, they are simply collateral damage. These casualties are the most unacceptable consequence of all wars. Each civilian death is a tragedy and should never be regarded as the “cost” of achieving our country’s war aims, because it is not we who are paying this price. When is enough, enough? How long can this war drain our resources, our lives, their lives? Is Bush a “failure as a president?” That’s for you to decide, but I’ll trust Google for the time being.
