The Purple & White Game

The annual Purple & White game was capped off this week and really gave a feel for what the Purple Knights have to offer for the upcoming season. With the core of the team coming back, and aspirations of a very talented recruiting class, Bridgeport should be a force to reckon with this season. In the first half, Team Purple, led by senior’s Mike Rosario and Mark Price, jumped out to an early 10-2 lead, but Team White answered back when center Matt Czaplinski scored 10 first-half points to help his team take the lead. Czaplinski, a transfer student from the University of Boston, will be taking the job under the boards in the place of All-American Ramel Allen. Tarrell Taylor, a Bridgeport native, previously of Creighton University, led the game with 24 points and 6 assists. “I am really excited to have the core group back with Jeffries, Rosario, Raul, and Jeremy; with the addition of Taylor and Czaplinski it just adds more talent to the team.” The Purple and White game is played in memory of Paul Walters, a UB Basketball legend that died in a tragic car accident at the age of 20 in 1974.
