Meet The Player:

After being voted Missouri Valley Conference sixth man of the year, being named to the MVC All Freshmen, All Newcomers, and All Bench teams; after a surprising loss to White Chocolate on MTV’s Magic Johnson’s Street ball Show, future NBA prospect, Tarell Taylor brings his game to UB. With Coach Mike and Coach Josh helping him regain his eligibility, and the excitement of playing among three local starters from Bridgeport here at UB, playing in his hometown was the obvious choice for Taylor. “I’m from Bridgeport first of all,” he said. “I’m real comfortable here at the school, everybody has been nice. It’s going to be nice for the university to have all that support as far as basketball is concerned.” When he’s not playing basketball, Taylor said that he enjoys spending time with his son. His major is Secondary Education English and the biggest influence in his life is his mother. “The biggest influence was my mom for always bringing me wherever I had to go, and me not having a male figure in my life, she pushed me to do manly things or athletics,” he said. So fortunate, and having so much success at such a young age, Taylor is taking it all in stride and has some advice for students. “I’m 24 years old and did college before when I was younger. When you’re younger it’s a little tougher because you’re not as mature as you’re going to be and there’s a lot of temptation. But I have a second chance here which I greatly appreciate and respect so I look at it from hindsight. Having done it already, I have a different angle, so I just take it serious, seize the day because you’re going to be out of college just like high school, looking around just that fast. Take it serious and day by day and cherish each day,” he said.
