Blow Promoted to Associate Head Coach

Patrina Blow has been promoted to the position of associate head coach for the UB women’s basketball program, announced head coach Mark McCaleb. Blow begins her second year as a member of the staff and helped guide last year’s team to the program’s first NYCAC Tournament Championship and an NCAA Tournament berth.
“Patrina needs to be recognized for her effort and professionalism,” said McCaleb. “She has a great relationship with our student-athletes and I am very pleased that we are able to keep her at UB for another year. I want the team, basketball profession and the campus community to know she is very talented and a major factor in the continued success of our program.”

“Patrina was instrumental in the women’s basketball success this past season. Her daily input during all phases of the program and tireless work on opponent scouting was key to our winning the conference and made my job a lot easier. Patrina and I built a great relationship through the season and I feel very confident in giving her the responsibilities of being an associate head coach, she has earned it,” said McCaleb.
A native of Bridgeport, Blow played college basketball at St. John’s University, where she graduated from in 1994 with a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in graphic design. At SJU, she was a four-year letter winner who played in 110 games while piling up 630 points, 256 assists and 120 steals from 1989-93. Blow began her coaching career as a student assistant coach at SJU in 1993-94 before moving to Bunnell High School in Stratford, Conn., as an assistant for one season. From there, Blow went on to Pace University for the 1995-96 season before ending up at Division I Hofstra.
