Black Student Alliance(BSA)

UB’s Black Student Alliance (BSA) is making huge steps to insure that this academic year is filled with educational and entertaining activities for the University of Bridgeport as well as the Bridgeport Community. The club has existed for many years on this campus and has evolved every year into a bigger and better group.
BSA’s motto is “Many Cultures, under one Agenda”. BSA’s mission statement “is to create and provide a sense of community within the University. The Black Student Alliance does this by providing social activities, community services and employment opportunities to members. In addition we are also a mutually supportive organization advancing in the progress of Fairfield County, leading its members to maturity through programs that edify, educate and inspire them to serve.”
Through this year BSA plans to uphold their mission statement by hosting numerous events and community service initiatives. The events they have already planned for this academic year are a trip to the NBA pre-season game at the Arena at Harbor Yard, the 2nd Annual trip to Six Flags Fright Fest, and the 3rd Annual Halloween Hot Spot party as a benefit for the victims of Hurricane Katrina. To further assist with the aid of the Hurricane victims BSA will be raffling off tickets for the Six Flags trip and NBA pre-season game all funds will go to aid the victims of Hurricane Katrina. Besides holding theme park trips and hosting parties, BSA plans to host several workshops surrounding the following topics: Sexual Awareness, Leadership Skills, Relationships between Lovers and Friends, NAACP Membership and job opportunities.
One of BSA’s other goals for this year is to strengthen their executive board, by using the members of other on campus organizations and most of all they look forward to working with and inducting the new incoming students into the Black Student Alliance.
To become a member of BSA a new process of admission has been created. All perspective members must attend at least 70% BSA events and after further consideration all of those chosen to be new members of BSA will become official members at a Membership Matriculation Ceremony that will be held this winter.
The Black Student Alliance’s meetings are held in the Student Center’s Private Dining Room, contact Kdavis@bridgeport.edu for more information.
