West Chester, Pa. — The UB women’s gymnastics team came up short by .175 points as the Purple Knights finished second at the 2005 ECAC Division II Women’s Gymnastics Championship. Local rival Southern Connecticut won the title with a score of 185.000, narrowing beating UB in a close meet. West Chester University, the meet’s host, finished third at 180.600.
UB’s Joell Koller finished second in the vault with a score of 9.325 and the team posted a 46.050 in the event. Koller also finished second on the bars with a 9.425 and was joined in the top-three by freshman Brandi Embrey. Embrey tied for third with a 9.250.
UB freshman Sarah Hansen claimed the meet’s all-around title with a total of 37.000.
First-year head coach Byron Knox was honored as the ECAC’s Coach of the Year for a successful first season with the Purple Knights. Assistant coach Manny Bonilla was also honored as the ECAC’s Assistant Coach of the Year.
