In UB’s NYCAC-opening doubleheader with St. Thomas Aquinas, the Purple Knights earned a sweep of the visiting Spartans on Saturday afternoon at the Ballpark at Harbor Yard. UB won the first game by a 7-6 final by scoring five times in the seventh inning. Matt Kotuby went 1 2/3 innings to pick up the win. In game two of the twinbill, a 4-2 win, Al Battista went seven innings and struck out seven, while senior Chris Petroski picked up his second save of the day by pitching a scoreless eighth and ninth innings. UB is now 3-4 overall and 2-0 in the NYCAC.
