Women’s Basketball Goes Wire-to-Wire in Win Over Adelphi

Bridgeport, Conn. — UB jumped out on top early and never trailed on its way to a 68-59 win over Adelphi on Thursday evening.The Purple Knights were led by a double-double from Krista Ross, with 19 points and 16 rebounds. Senior Crystal Deichert added 15 points, while junior Desaraya Williams nearly had a double-double with 13 points and nine rebounds, as well as a team-high three steals.
Four Adelphi players finished in double figures-led by Carlyshia Hurdle with 14 points. Carlyshia is the daughter of former UB men’s basketball great Carlton Hurdle, a member of the UB men’s basketball Hall of Fame.
UB is now 13-2 overall and 10-2 in the NYCAC. The team trails league-leading St. Thomas Aquinas by a game and a half now in the standings. Adelphi falls to 8-7 overall, 7-5 in the NYCAC and has now lost seven of their last eight games.
