Kristine Gorman, a junior at UB, won first place in spring’s Connecticut Chapter of the American Society of Interior Designers Fashion Show. It was nearly a grand slam for the UB entrants. Other UB winners included Connor Glass, second place, and Dina Upton and Mingda Liu, fourth place, people’s choice.Ms. Gorman is a student member of ASID and the student representative to the Connecticut Chapter’s Board of Directors. UB’s Interior Design program and its students have taken part in ASID activities for several years.
Interior design students from the state’s colleges and universities participated along with architectural firms in the competition. The challenge was for participants to design costumes using interior materials such as fabrics, rugs, metals, laminates, ceramics, paints and other elements. The event was held at the Amarante’s Sea Cliff restaurant in New Haven in April.
