Bridgeport, Conn. – Mark McCaleb has been named as the head women’s basketball coach at University of Bridgeport today, announced Joe DiPuma, director of athletics.
“We are very excited that coach McCaleb will be joining our staff,” said DiPuma. “We feel that his past experiences have prepared him to be successful here at UB.”
McCaleb brings a wealth of experience to the program with stops at Division I, II and III institutions. Last season, he was the head coach at St. Joseph’s College (ME), where he guided the program to a winning mark.
Prior to St. Joseph’s, McCaleb helped build two Division I programs over a seven-year period. For two seasons, he was an assistant at Northeastern University, where he was responsible for international and junior college recruiting, as well as scouting and developing game strategies. Prior to Northeastern, McCaleb was the top assistant and recruiting coordinator at Central Connecticut State University, where he assessed and instructed skill development, as well as design the program’s fundraising campaigns.
His other experience includes a two-year stint as the top assistant and recruiting coordinator at Springfield College, as well as two years working with high school and AAU basketball.
McCaleb is a 1989 graduate of the University of Massachusetts with a Bachelor’s degree in Physical Education. He then earned his Master of Education in Athletic Administration from Springfield College in 1995.
