Business Expo at UB

On April 21, an event will be held at the University of Bridgeport that should make all UB students proud. The Hispanic Association of Bridgeport, with the tremendous help coming from UB students and faculty, is organizing its fifth annual Business Exposition at the Wheeler Recreation Center. Special thanks must be given to Professor Basset, whose involvement was a crucial factor in initiating and organizing this year’s event.Bridgeport’s Mayor, Mr. John Fabrizi will open the event while the Secretary of the State, Ms. Susan Bysiewicz is scheduled to be an honored speaker. This will be the second time in a one month period that Secretary of the State had visited our University.

This year’s Hispanic Business Expo is expected to be the biggest in its history with over sixty companies and organizations being represented. Companies such as Pitney Bows, SBC Communications, People’s Bank, Allstate Insurance, Sikorsky and Fleet Bank are just a few out of many respectable exhibitors whose contributions helped make this event possible.

In addition, numerous educational seminars will be offered on how to start and register your own business, where to go for a business loan, and how to win your first clients. The Vice President of People’s Bank, Ms. Barbara Johnson, will give a seminar on lending for small businesses, while Ms. Martia Guberman from Fleet Bank will be give a presentation on women entrepreneurs.

This expo has something for everyone who is looking for a job or an internship, or thinking of starting his/her own business after graduation. This business forum could be a real career jump-starter even for those who are just curious and would like to check it out. Taco Loco will be providing free food, and prizes including a digital camera, movie tickets and baseball tickets.

Admission is free, and everyone is welcome, and business attire is highly recommended. Introduce yourself to the business world at the Wheeler Recreation Center on Wednesday, April 21 from 3pm – 7pm, at this year’s Hispanic Business Expo.
