The Lady Knight Gymnastics has been performing well this season and it looks like they will take the trip to the Nationals in Texas as a team. They have a record of 8-2 and are still ranked in the top ten of the country. Each meet they seem to be improving their skills and proved it this weekend reaching their second highest score as a team with a 187.625 in a meet against the University of New Hampshire (UNH).
On March 1, 2003, UB took on UNH in their annual alumni meet. Many of the gymnastics alumni came to watch their old team put on one of their best performances of the year. Junior Stephanie Pink has stayed solid this year on the vault and she kept that going with a 9.6 score this weekend. Senior Joey-Marie Kochanski has also stayed very solid this year, as she has throughout her career, scoring a 9.450 on the uneven bars, a 9.70 on the balance beam, and a 9.8 on the floor. This is her most solid event.
Korrie Powelski and Tracy Vassalluzzo have also helped the Lady Knights out by showing great leadership and putting up the numbers to move their way into national contention. Powelski scored a 9.725 on the floor routine, a 9.750 on beam, and a 9.2 on the vault. Vassalluzzo helped her team out on the floor with a 9.650.
The Lady Knights have their next home meet, Senior Day, on March 15, 2003. They will be taking on Brown University in their last home meet of the year. at 1 pm at the Wheeler Recreation Center.
